Swami Vivekananda (1863–1902) Swami Vivekananda was a renowned Indian Hindu monk, philosopher, and spiritual leader who played a key role in introducing Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world. From a young age, he showed great interest in spirituality and philosophy. He was a bright student, well-versed in literature, music, and studies. Spiritual Journey: Narendranath met Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, a mystic saint, who became his spiritual teacher.
